The Foundation was established in 1969 as a non-profit, financially self-sufficient auxiliary.
MISSIONThe Mission of the California State University, Bakersfield Foundation is to support California State University, Bakersfield by:
- Advocating for the University to government and to the community,
- Fundraising for University programs and activities,
- Managing the finances of the Foundation and the University endowment,
- Advising the administrations of California State University and California State University, Bakersfield
As a private non-profit corporation, a board of directors governs the Foundation. The principal function of the board of directors is to establish policies and guide the Foundation in achieving its objectives. Board members work closely with the president and other campus leaders to increase private support to the campus. To that end, the Foundation coordinates its operations with the operations of the campus to help enhance the educational and cultural environment of the university and the community it serves.
